Dear Kindergarten Families,
Each child in our classroom will have an opportunity to be the "Mighty Monkey." When it is your child's
week a Mighty Monkey Folder will come home with your child. You will need to help your child fill out the information inside the folder and return the folder and information to school.
Your child's Mighty Monkey week will consist of the following activities:
Monday: Make the Mighty Monkey Display
Please send pictures and the Mighty Monkey paper for our Mighty Monkey wall. Please include a family picture. Other pictures may include pets, your home, a vacation, your child’s favorite past time, etc. Help your child practice what to tell the class about each picture and what he or she wrote on the Mighty Monkey paper.
Tuesday: Share the Mighty Monkey Display
You child will be sharing his or her display to the class. This will include telling about the Mighty Monkey paper and pictures on the display. The information and pictures will be displayed on our Mighty Monkey board all week.
Wednesday: Special Sharing
Please help your child collect special items from home to bring to school to share with his or her classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose items that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys.
Thursday: Guest for Lunch/Guest Reader
A parent or other adult is invited to school to eat lunch and/or read a story to the class. Please have your child select a favorite picture book for you to read to the class. If a guest can’t come for lunch and/or read, please send your child’s favorite story for me to read to the class. Please let me know who plans on coming to lunch as I need to let the kitchen know about extra meals. We eat lunch at 11:30. I can also be flexible about the day or time for guest readers as well, just let me know on Monday what your plans are if at all possible.
Friday: Mighty Monkey Friends
Your child will be presented with a friendship book created by his/her classmates!
This week will be very important to your child, so please try to participate. Let me know if you have any additional questions about the upcoming week. I appreciate your cooperation!
